Personality

It's obvious on first sight: Ryssrael takes place. She is large, she is loud, and has little respect for personal boundaries. If she can at times use this fact to intimidate, she most often comes off as friendly, casual and light-hearted. In her eyes, she is straightforward and honest. Others might describe her as blunt and abrasive.Freedom, movement and curiosity are powerful drives for her, but so is rage. She feels injustice strongly, and despite having long learned to exteriorize her anger through battle, there is no denying that she is generally inclined to violence.In everything she does, she is impulsive and bold, if not downright reckless. Being idle is not an option, and she will chase her next hit of adrenaline to the end of the world. Paired with a strong confidence in herself and her abilities, this results in never backing down from any challenge, sometimes to the despair of those who would care for her.

Background

  EARLY LIFE    Ryssrael was born in Lower La Noscea, single daughter to a shipwright mother and a dock-worker father. From a young age, she held a fascination for the ships that visited the docks, filled with strange people, colorful goods, and wild stories. Her dreams of embarking on one of them for a fantastic journey would not come to fruition so soon, however, as her family uprooted and rushed to Limsa Lominsa.At the time, she could not fully grasp the causes, but she had started to live in hiding, to see her parents being taken in by the Yellow Jackets – sometimes for short stays, sometimes longer, to struggle with basic necessities. Before she was even truly a teenager, there was so little left of her family unit that she had taken the habit of fending for herself on the streets of the city state.Small jobs and petty thefts led her to a new family, one made of friends living the same life as herself. First there was Swynfyr, who not only acted but also looked every bit the part of the older brother she never had. Then there was R’osen, who dabbled in the arcane, and was at the same time the most ambitious and down to earth person in their little crew. Finally came Servan, as much of a hot head as Ryssrael and twice as rude.  PRE-ARR    By the time she would meet the Scions in La Noscea, Ryssrael and her newfound family had become a known crew of mercenaries and freelancers around Limsa Lominsa. Their abilities in a fight were their main selling point, but it wasn’t rare to see them take on any kind of manual labor. The crew also had a new addition, an Au Roe by the name of Fornax, who had previously been their rival in a few contracts. Ryssrael took interest quickly in the strong and massive fighter, and the occasional fucking around quickly turned into a permanent entanglement.

Pirate AU

A non-WoL AU that quickly became the most notable variation on Ryssrael.  THE CAPTAIN OF THE HYDRA'S HEADS    If the Hydra's Heads cannot rival with the main pirate factions of Limsa Lominsa due to their smaller numbers and fewer ships, they do not want for fearful reputation. Captain Waenwyn and her crew know how to terrorize their enemies. Rumor goes that she can summon the might of a levianthan into battle. The reality is closer to a mix of battle prowess and theatrics, but she would not refute any rumor working in her favor.  SURVIVAL AT ALL COSTS    If this pirate captain Ryssrael remains similar to her Warrior of Light counterpart, meeting both of them would be quite a different experience. This Ryssrael has shed the friendly exterior for a much more intense and intimidating one. She is no longer the adventurer willing to jump into any trouble - now, the only ones she fights for are her crew. It is them against the world, and she will not lose.  DIFFERENT SUN, DIFFERENT STARS    Fornax remains her partner, but their relationship is fundamentally different in this universe. After having defeated them on an enemy ship, Ryssrael gave them the options to either join her crew or meet the bottom of the ocean. She recognized their immense fighting skills immediately, but also perceived them as a potential traitor. Getting closer to the touch-starved recruit was an opportunity to secure their loyalty, but it was also a way to deal with her own attraction for them. Quickly, Fornax became her perfect attack dog, and she held them in a tight leash. Although toxic in many ways, the love is clearly not one-sided.
